Basically, this blog is about YOU … building upon the ancestors and descendants of Herbert Draper Brown (1906-1976 – Schoharie County, NY) and Lora Belle Wheeler (1907 – 1990 – Delaware County, NY).
I have researched our family history for the past 50 years as time has permitted, and did publish one Limited Edition book on my first cousin, once removed, Sanford Dewitt Fancher’s, 90th birthday.
In doing so, I have met and shared information with many interesting family members I never knew existed when I started my quest.
I am now focusing my effort in research and hope to publish the entirety of our Brown/Wheeler family history.
I am looking for others who will be able to help with stories, photographs, family recipes and, best of all, developing a solid interest in the part our ancestors have shown in creating our wonderful country.
In doing my research I have watched our ancestors come to our shores to become tillers of the soil and evolve not only to the protection and security of our country but, also, to become carpenters, a saw mill operator, nurses, milliners, a U.S. Supreme Court Justice, doctors, lawyers and, yes, even an Indian Chief!
As I indicated, when arriving on our shores our ancestors were also met by other ancestors of ours, the Native American Mohawks.
I am hoping this blog will spark an interest in family members to take part, as well as inviting inquiries and submissions from others who are also related or interested in our ancestors and descendants.
I look forward to hearing from any and all of you about our family history, stories, recipes, photographs, etc. They are all a part of what makes us who we are today.
I am hopeful you will enjoy what you see and will continue checking in from time to time, not only to read what everyone has to share, but to add your seasoning to the family stew, as well.
Better yet, won’t you consider subscribing? It’s easy. Just click on the “RSS – Posts” and/or “RSS – Comments” at the bottom of the right-hand column, depending upon what you wish to continue reading.
Once again, welcome, and I hope to you see you on the trails ahead!

Norman

Norman R. Brown went to eternal rest January 2014. I am his cousin and will be happy to help you in anyway I can. I have been doing research for 30 years. I connected my Brown research with Norman in 2005. We decided to make this blog about our Brown’s going back to Edward Browne, born in England and who settled in Ipswich, MA. I will be adding information on our line as time permits.

Do you have anything to contribute, like how you got Perley Brown accepted by the DAR? Others might be able to piggy-back into acceptance to the DAR/SAR, as well, using all of your hard work.
I like all the tools to the right that help anyone to do research. What a great idea!
If you know of any sites which should be added, Karen, just let me know, and I’ll see that they are included.
